Birdon has won a contract with the US Army to supply up to 374 Bridge Erection Boats (BEBs) in a contract worth up to US$259 million. This contract is a win for Australian innovation, and a testament to the expertise and ingenuity that exists in our defence industry and manufacturing sector generally. BEBs primarily provide propulsion and manoeuvring thrust to support temporary floating bridges, and can also be used in a ferry configuration for transportation. BEBs are transportable by road, rail and air.
A key component in Birdon’s winning tender is the NAMJet marine propulsion system, providing significantly more thrust than other water jets while maintaining high speeds.
