Phil Organ, Birdon’s Director of Business Development for NAMJet Marine Propulsion, attended the U.S. Coast Guard change of command ceremony on Wednesday the 1st of June, 2022. Not only is Phil a U.S Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer (Ret.), but he served with Adm. Karl Shultz (Ret.) during his time in the Coast Guard.
When Karl Schultz graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1983 as an Ensign, his first duty was aboard the USCGC Gentian, a 180ft sea-going buoy tender ported in Atlantic Beach North Carolina. At the time, Phil Organ was a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO4), Engineer Officer (Chief Engineer), also aboard the Gentian.
Phil and Karl served together, including during support operations following the Invasion of Grenada. Phil has remained a close friend of Karl’s during his rise to the rank of 4-star Admiral and 26th Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard.
With Phil, the entire team at Birdon, wishes Adm. Karl Shultz (ret.) all the best for his retirement. We look forward to continuing to serve and support the U.S. Coast Guard through the refurbishment and service life extension of the 47’ Motor Lifeboats.
